Cases & Strategies of Psycho-economy, Somatic Abolitionism & Other Forms of Neo-Colonial Resistance

Content: This presentation will focus on exploring the important concept of psycho-economy, a key aspect of Quadri-dimensional Economy. Analyzed with the lens and practices that exploited people have developed over time and how the mental health field has been incorporating them since the mid-20th century. To explore an expanded comprehension of Psycho-economy, some ideas and concepts will be introduced from Liberation Psychology and Somatic Abolitionism and visiting some clinics, experiences and approaches that are focused on vulnerable populations threatened by the contemporary necropolitical agenda of post-modern democracies. The goal is to show resistance, hope and thoughtfulness by thinkers and therapists fighting for the freedom of oppressed populations.
Arthur Pacheco earned a bachelor's degree in Social Sciences from the University of Campinas (Unicamp), a public research university in the State of Sao Paulo, Brazil and is pursuing a master's degree in Psychology in Community Mental Health from the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco, CA. He first learned about Prout in 2008 during a training course offered by Proutist Universal. He subsequently worked with Prout in Campinas (a city in southeast Brazil) with Casa do Mato ("Forest House") and the Trocas Verdes Collective ("Green House" a consumer cooperative). He also shared Prout principles in Unicamp's Vegetarian Week and its Agroecology Network. He then worked in São Paulo leading Prout study circles and providing consulting support services for cooperative projects. He served on the board of Proutist Universal of Brazil (Proutista Universal do Brasil) for three years and has been on the board of Proutist Universal Global since 2024.
