Creating Prototype Master Units via the Resilient Communities Project

with Brad Smith

P.R. Sarkar, who propounded Prout, referred to the importance of developing Master Units as model communities to serve as the nerve centers of society, which can provide needed services, particularly in the fields of education, culture, economics, agriculture and spiritual upliftment. Such communities will work to improve the fate, first of all of human beings, and then of all living beings, irrespective of caste, creed, color, religion, and national barriers. The Resilient Communities Project is a bioregional-based effort to build self-reliant and self-governing communities to serve as models to inspire, engage and help guide others seeking an equitable, sustainable, non-extractive way of life.

Brad Smith has been a musician, woodworker, salesperson, business entrepreneur, community organizer, and social entrepreneur and is now based in Eugene, OR. He was co-founder of Interplay, Sweetwater Collaborative, Youth Drought Project, Community Healing House, and now the Resilient Communities Project. He has visited or lived in numerous ecovillages, intentional communities, and co-housing developments. He helped organize and lead the New Era Convergence, a PROUT inspired weekend retreat in August 2022. He recently joined an urban housing co-op on community land trust land as experience to help establish the first prototype rural Resilient Community this year.    Contact: bsmith.interplay@gmail.com
